- _f_a_x_s_t_a_t_e sends a message to the _H_y_l_a_F_A_X _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y(1M) process
- servicing _m_o_d_e_m telling it to use the specified state when
- notifying the _H_y_l_a_F_A_X scheduler that a modem is ready and
- available for use. This is useful for controlling outbound
- use of a modem; by marking a modem's state as _b_u_s_y or _d_o_w_n
- the _H_y_l_a_F_A_X scheduler will not assign any outbound jobs to
- the modem.
-
- The specified _m_o_d_e_m can either be the name (typically the
- last component of the terminal port the modem is attached
- to), or the full name of the associated FIFO named pipe
- file, e.g. ``FIFO.ttym2''.
-
- If the ----nnnn option, _f_a_x_s_t_a_t_e emulates what _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y would do;
- sending a message directly to the _f_a_x_q process marking the
- specified modem down, busy, or ready. This interface is
- useful for send-only environments in which _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y
- processes are not used. Note that modems manipulated in
- this way must previously have been configured with the
- _f_a_x_m_o_d_e_m(1M) program.
-
- OOOOPPPPTTTTIIIIOOOONNNNSSSS
- The following options are supported:
-
- ----nnnn Contact _f_a_x_q directly instead of _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y.
-
- ----qqqq _d_i_r Use a spooling area other than
- /_u_s_r/_f_r_e_e_w_a_r_e/_v_a_r/_s_p_o_o_l/_f_a_x.
-
- ----ssss Specify the state to send the _f_a_x_q process each
- time the modem becomes ready for use; one of
- ``_b_u_s_y'', ``_d_o_w_n'', and ``_r_e_a_d_y''. The default
- state to use is _r_e_a_d_y.
-
- FFFFIIIILLLLEEEESSSS
- Consult _h_y_l_a_f_a_x(4F) for a complete discussion of the
- structure and content of the spooling area.
